Description
Systematics and Zoogeoraphy of the Land and Fresh-Water Mollusca of the New Hebrides
by
Alan Solem
No ISBN, published in 1959 as 2 volumes in one binding by the Chicago Museum of Natural History, as Feldiana Volume 43, publication #877, in paper covers, 359 pages not including 34 page-size plates mostly black and white photographs and some drawings in the first volume and 39 page-size distribution maps in the second volume, the page size is about 5.75 by 9.25 inches, 15 by 23.5 cm.
This is the only copy of "Land and Fresh-Water Mollusca of the New Hebrides" that I was able to find offered for sale. Like the other works by Alan Solem, this is a thorough scientific study of the terrestrial and freshwater mollusks from these remote and seldom studied islands. The name of the island group was changed to Vanuatu in 1980 when it achieved independence. These islands are part of the Melanesian group. Although this is a used book, it is in nice condition. The book has a rubber stamp on the front cover showing the previous owner was the Academy of Natural Sciences fish department in Philadelphia. The spine has a handwritten notation of the title and author. The spine is soiled, and it is a bit faded.
