Description
Sea Shells of the World
The Shapes and Patterns Designed by Nature
From the Ninomiya Collection
by Masouki Horikoshi
Published in 1989 by the Natural History Museum and Institute, Chiba, Japan, paperback in cardboard covers, 20.5 by 29.5 cm., 8 by 11.75 inches, 48 page-sized color photograhic plates and 34 pages of keys to these plates, text is in Japanese
"Sea Shells of the World" is a photographic celebration of some of the rare and beautiful shells that made up the extensive collection of Tazio Ninomiya. For many years Mr. Ninomiya was one of the foremost shell collectors in Japan. He built up an enormous collection, and when he passed away, his collection went to the Natural History Museum in Chiba. The museum published this book as a tribute to Mr. Ninomiya and enables us to enjoy some of the outstanding shells that were part of his collection. Over the years, I have had only a few copies of this book to sell. This book is used, and it is dog-eared at the top of the open end. It also has some wear on the edge of the cover from being shelved. But the plates and other pages of this book can almost pass as new.
