"Handbook of Gastropods in Kansas" is an old book, published sixty-two years before I wrote this capsule review. Despite its' age, it is the latest survey of these shells that we have. The book achieves its' aims stated by the author, "to list and describe the kinds of animals that live within the State", "to show their distribution" "and to serve as an aid to their identification". Although this copy of the book has been used, it is in very good condition given its' age. It has a very slight tear at the bottom of its' spine which is now reinforced with non-acidic tape. The book has been re-printed, but the quality of these reprints is generally not good, especially when it comes to the plates. Original books, like this one, are scarce and often very expensive.
