This copy of "Colored Illustrations of the Land Snail (sic) of Japan" is a rare book, and this is the only copy of it that I've ever had. It is part of the "Colored Illustrations" series of natural history books done in Japan. It covers 681 species found in Japan. This book has no English translation, but there is an index with the scientific names used for mollusks. The plates and drawings are very sharp, and living and specimen shells are illustrated. When making my price comparison before making my listing, I was stunned to find only two other copies that I found were in Japan, and their price ranged from $720.00 to $750.00. The book that I have has a signed dedication by Masao Azuma, gifting it to the previous owner. The book is in excellent condition.
