When this book was first published I was able to get 10 copies. They sold out in a few months and I have never been able to get another copy again. It is a vrey good reference work for more than 200 species, mainly bivalve and gastropods found in the Persian Gulf. Each of the shells are illustrated with a large (3 by 5 inch) color photograph generally with two or more views of each specimen. There is a detailed distribution map for each species. The text gives the taxonomic name of the specimen, its' English name (where there is one), the size, color and characteristics of the shell, and Its' distribution and behavior. One feature of this book that makes it very useful for a guide to shell identification is an illustrated color index of the shells. The text is in Persian and in English, and the book's layout would be for western users considered to be backwards This is a used copy that is in almost new condition. There is some very slight signs of shelf wear on the edges of the dust jacket. This copy has been fitted with a clear plastic book cover to protect cover from any further wear.
