Description
Viana - The Cuban Landshells Queen
by
Adrian Gonzalez-Guillen
ISBN 978-0-9847140-7-0, published in 2019 by MdM Publishing, Wellington, FL. Case bound hardcover, about 8.25 11 inches,(20.5 by 27.5 cm), 165 pages, Illustrated throughout with full-page color plates, maps, historical photos of earlier workers on this genus, and photos showing the habitat of these mollusks. The book also features superb photographs of other mollusks in the Helicinidae.
Those of you that already own Adrian's two earlier monographs on the Polymita of Cuba, and the Liguus of Cuba and Florida, will immediately want to add this new monograph on the Viana to their bookshelves. All three of these books are complete studies of the shells with a look at their past studies, their ecology, their biology, and their taxonomy as well as studying the Viana in the field. Although there have been articles written about these shells in the past this is the first book about these shells that illustrate in color all of the species shells and living animals that make up this family. Many collectors have little interest in these shells because they are only familiar with dead specimens that are broken and generally have very poor color. Thanks to Adrian's fantastic photographic skills this book will change forever the way that we will think about these shells.
