This book has been out of print for quite a while. While it is not as complete as the somewhat later book,"Spiny Oysters" which was put together from the final notes of this author and published after his death, it is a complete treatment of the majority of the shells that make up this colorful and beautiful family of marine bivalves. The color photographs are sharp and detailed and a nice size so that the details of the shells are quite clear. This is the only copy that I have and it can pass almost as a new book. There are some small tears and signs of ware inside the dust cover at the upper and lower ends of the spine that are reinforced inside the jacket, but otherwise in almost new condition.
