This book is similar to the earlier "Rare and Unusual Shells of the Florida Keys" by the same authors but is somewhat expanded to include shells found elsewhere in Southern Florida. The book on the shells of the Florida Keys has for a long time been out of print so collectors interested in the shells of this region will probably want to ad this book to their reference shelf while it is still available. The photography of the shells as well of the other photographs in this book are top quality. Several new species and supergeneric classifications are included in this book. If these nomenclatural additons stand the test of time and further research remains to be seen. The shells described as new by the senior author have always been controversial and what are described as new species in this book is not an exception to that fact.
